Framed: A Night of Art, Elegance, and Community

I'm still processing the incredible evening we shared at my first photography exhibition, Framed. What started as a vision 1 MONTH AGO, yes you read that right, became a reality that exceeded every expectation I had. The energy in that all-white gallery space, the conversations sparked by the work, the saxophone hitting the corners of every wall.

It was everything I hoped it would be.

The Vision Behind Framed

Framed was more than just an exhibition. It was an experience designed to celebrate photography as a multisensory art form. I wanted guests to feel the work, not just see it. Every element, from the black tie dress code to the live music, was intentional. This was about creating a space where art, community, and elegance intersected.

The collection featured a series of portraits with a model, Chamond Brooks, whose collaboration brought such depth and emotion to the work, alongside general art pieces that explored different themes and perspectives. Each photograph told its own story. I took a year off and want to come back as a way to re-introduce myself to the space of art.

An Evening of Elegance

From the moment guests arrived in their black tie attire, I knew it was a good idea to require us to dress up :). I mean when was the last time we dressed up? Two talented saxophonists filled the gallery with smooth melodies that perfectly complemented the visual experience. We had seating arranged so people could sit (trust me I thought about the women as a woman), listen, and let the music wash over them while taking in the photographs on the walls.

The catering by Griot Gardens was exceptional. Their commitment to quality and flavor of Haitian cuisine elevated the entire evening, and I'm grateful for their sponsorship and partnership. Food has a way of bringing people together.

We also featured two vendors, one who offered beautiful timepiece jewelry and one who offered luxury - nontoxic body butter. Again, everything was intentional. Their craft complemented the photography beautifully, and I loved seeing guests discover their work throughout the evening.

Capturing the Moments

One of the best decisions I made was hiring a videographer to document the night. Having that footage means I can relive the speeches, the reactions, the candid moments of connection that made the evening so special. These are memories I'll treasure, and I'm excited to share some of that footage soon.

What's Next

The success of Framed has energized me in ways I didn't anticipate. I have more work that didn't make it into this exhibition which i'll showcase next year. This is just the beginning!
